windows me

My system continues to lock up and or send me a error message as I surf the net or working on a project. Is there any quick fixit patches or anything for Win Me. I never had any problems like this while using Win 98. If all else fails what would I have to do to convert my system back to Win 98?
Everything goes so slow and this is a new 933 mHtz Pen III computer with 128 megs of ram. My old computer was faster that this crap, and it was just a regular Pen with 133mHtz processor and 32 megs of ram. Its almost as if I wasted my money!
