Windows ME loading wrong mouse driver

I have a trackball mouse that requires it to
have it’s own mouse drivers to be loaded. I have loaded the proper drivers but every time windows me starts up it automatically “detects” and loads it’s own set of mouse drivers which are in direct conflict with the drivers already loaded. This causes the screen to not function properly. I can not find a way to make Windows ME to stop this load routine. Please help!!!
