Windows ME machine periodically sluggish

User has ME running and periodically response times for programs drag to nearly agonizing. Checked mem use: 55%. Disk drive only half full. User said that she hasn’t done anything lately that might have caused it (yeah, right).

Can you point me to a check list to run through to see what’s going on? Thanks.
