Windows reboots during burn process CDRW

while attempting to backup my options/cabs directory, Windows reboots after copying about 20 or 30 files to the CD-R. I have not had this problem before and I wonder if there is a way to troubleshoot the CD-RW drive. I have used several CD-R’s andthey have all failed.
