Windows Updates

At Home on my own computer (no nic card)when trying to logon to ms windows update, I get this message that In order to update my windows 98 se I must see my network adm.

There is no network. This happened after problems with ie5.5. IE5.5 was already re-installed and so was 98se.

Did we miss something?
