WinXP won’t install

Compaq 1.2 processor, 768 ram.I have a WinXp OEM. I put in the disk, it formats beautifully. When the ‘puter restarts it after formatting it says it can’t access the drive. What an I doing wrong? The os won’t install. Never had this problem before. Please, help me!
