Won’t Defrag!!

I have a problem with an IBM Aptiva E series 270 computer. When I try to run the systems defrag tool or Nuts & bolts Defrag,they keep restarting because of disk activity. I have shut down all running programs in the close program box except for Explorer. I am stumped. Post any suggestions here, or e-mail me at atvnut@email.com
