Word 2000 – Copy/Paste, format default

We have a remote user with Office 2000. They have to copy a section from Excel and paste it into Word. In Office 97 it defaults to paste as rtf – in Office 2000 it defaults to html. He can select Edit | Paste Special and then rtf but it would be easier to change the default “Paste” option. I couldn’t find anything in Technet. Any ideas?
