Word 97 documents getting corrupted

WINNT Workstation 4.0 with off97 running fine. User claims they did nothing new and now when open document PC freezes for a while then error”document may be corrupted….” I reinstalled word97 using the cleaner and no luck. Anything else I can try?Thanks
