word docs wont/works docs will print

I have a laserjet IIp plus and a HP deskjet 656c that can be selected from the print menu. When I’m using Word I cant get the laserjet to print but the 656c will. Works will print to both printers when selected. As far as I can see the print menu when selected to the laserjet is identical for both programs, including the paper tray option. Suggestions please to getword to print to the laserjet.
