Word2000 Problems

When typing in Word2000, from Offcie 2000Pro, the cursor jumps up into body of the text already typed, causing it to overwrite the following text. It seems to only happen when running windowsME.I have tried this on Win98, and win2k- no probs. It also seems a quirk with laptops- any suggestions?..
