Vietnam is expanding its ambitions in Asia’s AI infrastructure market with help from a major South Korean cloud provider. The partnership could give regional businesses another route to powerful AI computing resources without requiring them to build their own GPU clusters.

FPT Corporation and NAVER Cloud announced an agreement on October 12 to expand AI Factory and GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) business across Asia-Pacific. The collaboration combines FPT’s existing computing infrastructure with NAVER Cloud’s AI models and engineering expertise, targeting enterprises developing and deploying AI applications.

The companies signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on October 8 at NAVER’s headquarters in Seongnam, South Korea, according to Seoul Economic Daily. South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam are among the target markets, although no new facility locations, investment commitments, or rollout timetable have been disclosed.

How FPT and NAVER Cloud plan to expand AI services

The companies will pursue opportunities combining GPU computing, cloud technology, and AI services. These resources would support model training and inference, allowing enterprises to rent computing capacity rather than maintain their own GPU infrastructure. GPU performance also depends on networking, memory, and software, as NVIDIA’s agentic AI infrastructure benchmarks illustrate.

Under FPT’s announced plans, the partners will work toward offering NAVER Cloud’s HyperCLOVA X language model through FPT AI Factory. No launch date or commercial terms have been disclosed for that integration.

Engineering cooperation is another component. Teams from FPT, NAVER Cloud’s Vietnam Development Center, and its South Korean headquarters plan technical exchanges covering GPU optimization, inference performance, and production AI agent deployments.

In its partnership announcement, NAVER Cloud identified South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam as markets for GPUaaS expansion. CEO Yuwon Kim also outlined plans to pursue enterprise customers across the wider region.

FPT already operates NVIDIA-powered AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan. Its Japanese system ranked 36th and its Vietnamese system 38th in the June 2025 TOP500 supercomputer rankings.

FPT says its existing platform serves more than 18,000 developers and over 2,000 enterprises worldwide. Those figures do not represent customers acquired through the new agreement.

Vietnam’s growing role in regional AI infrastructure

The agreement could extend Vietnam’s role from hosting AI infrastructure to supplying computing services across Asian markets. An AWS-commissioned study estimates that 26% of Vietnamese businesses use AI, although most adopters remain in the experimentation stage.

GPUaaS offers Southeast Asian enterprises an alternative to substantial upfront hardware purchases. The agreement comes as Singapore-based firms dominate Southeast Asia’s data center funding, even as operators develop new capacity in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Regional deployment raises practical questions about where workloads are hosted, how data crosses borders, and whether services meet local security and regulatory requirements. The partners have not disclosed data residency arrangements, service-level commitments, pricing, or GPU capacity for their proposed joint offerings.

Commercial availability and customer deployments will determine how far the partnership extends Vietnam’s presence in Asia’s enterprise AI infrastructure market.
