Yahoo has issued a security update for Yahoo Messenger. This latest update fixes the nasty Webcam flaw, which apparently results in a denial-of-service attack, as well as potentially allowing the introduction of a remote exploit. Yahoo Messenger client downloaded before August 21st, 2007 is vulnerable to these issues.

As mentioned in a previous post about the Yahoo Messenger bug, the user client first has to accept a Webcam invitation controlled by a malicious attacker for this flaw to be exploited.  Still, there’s no point in leaving the door wide open.

Yahoo Messenger will also prompt users worldwide “over the next few weeks” to update.  Here is the download link for the latest version of Yahoo Messenger.
