Managing family accounts on Android has meant jumping between apps and account menus. Google is bringing those tools closer together with Android Family Hub, a new section inside Android Settings.
Confirmed in Google’s November 2, 2026, system services release notes, Family Hub is associated with Google Play services version 26.43. Early Pixel 11 sightings reveal shared subscriptions, family information, and location-sharing features, although Google has not announced which phones will receive the hub or when it will become widely available.
Inside Android’s new Family section
Google’s November system services release notes describe Family Hub as a dedicated space for family-management tools. The announcement offers few specifics, but earlier testing provides a closer look.
On October 30, Android Authority reported that some Pixel 11 owners had discovered a Family entry near the top of Settings. Opening it revealed family members and shared subscriptions, including Google One storage, Google AI plans, and YouTube Premium.
The interface also displayed Calendar events involving multiple family members, shared locations, and suggestions for the family manager. These features could simplify access to family information currently managed across separate Google services, although Google has not confirmed which will be included in the wider release.
Android’s Settings interface has also changed through recent Pixel software releases. Google’s Android 17 QPR1 update introduced interface improvements in September, including changes to Quick Settings and other system controls.
Early testing suggests Family Hub has a broader family-management focus than Android’s existing parental controls. Google introduced built-in Parental Controls in a limited beta in August 2025, enabling parents to set screen-time limits, schedule downtime, restrict apps, and filter content.
In June 2026, Google announced expanded support for Android 17. Family Link also offers remote features such as School Time scheduling, purchase approvals, and location alerts. Google has not explained whether Family Hub will integrate with these controls or operate separately.
Family Hub rollout and device support
Google has not published a supported-device list or worldwide rollout schedule. The first sightings involved Pixel 11 phones, while the Play services announcement leaves open the possibility of availability on other Android devices.
Android features and update availability can vary by manufacturer, as outlined in TechRepublic’s Android cheat sheet. Support for Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi, and other brands remains unconfirmed, along with any minimum Android version or regional requirements.
Google Play services can deliver features independently of major Android upgrades. The October Google Play update introduced app-discovery and connectivity features through separate Play Store and Play services releases, with availability varying by device.
According to 9to5Google’s November 3 report, Family Hub had not been widely observed despite appearing in Google’s release notes. Installing Play services version 26.43 therefore does not guarantee immediate access.
Users can check Settings for a new Family entry, but its absence does not necessarily mean their phone is unsupported. Family Hub offers an early glimpse of a simpler Android family-management experience, with broader availability and the final feature set still unconfirmed.
