Four Meta AI glasses models are now on sale in Malaysia, but price is only part of the decision. Starting at RM2,069 (approximately $506), the Ray-Ban and Oakley lineup offers options for everyday wear, prescription lenses, and sports, with the most expensive model costing RM520 (about $127) more.

Sales began October 20, 2026, through authorized eyewear retailers. The glasses combine hands-free photography, video recording, open-ear audio, and Meta AI assistance, giving Malaysian buyers official local access without relying on overseas imports.

The models differ in durability, prescription compatibility, and fitness features. Ray-Ban emphasizes everyday convenience, while Oakley offers designs ranging from casual outdoor wear to performance training.

Malaysia prices and availability

According to SoyaCincau’s Malaysian launch coverage, the four models carry these starting prices:

Model Starting price Best suited for
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) RM2,119 (about $519) Everyday use
Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) RM2,209 (about $541) Prescription wearers
Oakley Meta HSTN RM2,069 (about $506) Casual outdoor activities
Oakley Meta Vanguard RM2,589 (about $634) Fitness and sports

USD conversions are approximate, based on exchange rates as of October 23, 2026, and do not represent official US retail prices.

Authorized Ray-Ban and Oakley stores, Sunglass Hut, A-Look, SEEN, and participating optical retailers carry the lineup. Participating optical retailers allow buyers to check frame fit and available prescription options, although stock, lens costs, and services vary by location.

Malaysia joins Singapore in offering locally distributed Meta AI glasses, expanding access across Southeast Asia. The rollout also brings smart glasses privacy concerns raised in Singapore into focus for another regional market, particularly where wearable cameras may capture people without their knowledge.

Ray-Ban vs. Oakley Meta: Features and trade-offs

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3): Best for everyday use

Starting at RM2,119 (about $519), Gen 3 offers a 12-megapixel camera, up to 3K video recording, and six microphones. Meta rates its battery life at up to nine hours. Its open-ear speakers support calls and music, although buyers seeking hearing assistance should compare purpose-built hearing glasses.

Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2): Best for prescription wearers

Priced from RM2,209 (about $541), the Blayzer and Scriber frames feature prescription-focused adjustments, including interchangeable nose pads and adjustable temple tips. They also offer a 12MP camera, 3K video, and more than eight hours of rated battery life. Prescription lenses may increase the final price.

Oakley Meta HSTN: Best for casual outdoor use

At RM2,069 (about $506), HSTN is the most affordable model. It records up to 3K video, offers eight hours of rated battery life, and supports prescription lenses. Its IPX4 rating covers splashes, sweat, and light rain, but not immersion.

Oakley Meta Vanguard: Best for fitness training

Vanguard costs RM2,589 (about $634) and features a 122-degree camera field of view, IP67 protection, and Garmin and Strava integration. Compatible Garmin devices enable additional fitness functions, although they’re sold separately. Unlike HSTN, Vanguard doesn’t support prescription lenses, and its water resistance doesn’t make it suitable for swimming.

The glasses require a compatible smartphone and the Meta AI app. Lowyat.NET’s Malaysian launch report details the hardware lineup, while SoyaCincau reported that Bahasa Melayu translation support was scheduled for October 20. Buyers should confirm language support and third-party integrations before purchasing.

Camera-equipped eyewear also presents workplace risks. In August, US immigration authorities warned employees against wearing Meta smart glasses on duty over concerns about recording sensitive information. Organizations allowing these devices should review recording, privacy, and acceptable-use policies.

The starting prices differ by just RM50 (about $12) between HSTN and Ray-Ban Gen 3, while Vanguard costs RM520 (about $127) more than HSTN. That premium adds greater protection against the elements and specialized fitness capabilities. Prescription needs, intended use, and local software support should ultimately determine which model is worth buying.
