Has anyone used this service/software called gotomypc.com ?
I'm interested in any security issues that I should be aware of before using it ? ?

Hi

I haven't used the particular software but I'll point you in the direction of an alternative
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/
VNC is Freeware. It gives the same functionality ad PC ANywhere through either the VNC client or a web browser.
We use it to remotely administer servers, both Windows and Linux. The web browser works on http on port 5800 by default. There is a risk to security with this, but if used through a VPN the risk is minimised

Cheers
Peter

Hi

I thought about trying that software just last week. But then they wanted my credit card number just to download a trial version. And then they would start charging my card if I didn't come back and cancel everything. I'm sorry, but if that type of stategy is what the use, I'm not sure if I want to do business with them.

I downloaded pcAnywhere from Symatecs enterprise administrations download page ( took a while to find it) for a free thirty day trial instead. After I got it set up, everything works great with both tcp/ip and dial-up.We're satisfied and are ordering
two full copies.
Security issues aside, I'd trust Symatec a lot further than gotomypc.com .

good luck in your hunt.

Dennis
