0x0000007E error on 2 installs of XP

by rav_gt4 . Updated 17 years, 7 months ago

Changed over hardware (motherboard, RAM, CPU) to another computer, running Win XP SP2. The original installation of Win XP was running fine for a number of years until I changed the hardware on it. Now if that was the case, I could just change the hardware back to what it was originally, but I tried installing a fresh copy of Win XP and that worked. I downloaded all crit updates and had only just downloaded SP2. I restart the machine and it brings up the BSoD with error 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF7475756, 0xF789E450, 0xF789E150) no further information provided (driver, etc.)

The original install of Win XP with SP2 loaded and functional came back with error 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xBAA98750, 0xBACC742C, 0xBACC7128) again with no further info provided.

The HDD is a 40Gb IDE and has an 80Gb IDE backup. The BIOS is the same and had no trouble handling Win XP SP2 before. HDD space isn’t an issue. I’m looking for fresh ideas, can anyone help please?
