1 terabyte disk for $1200

What would the pro & cons of using this device for network storage on a Windows 2000 network.

Security?
Active Dir?
Redundancy?

Security and AD shouldn't be a problem, (depends on format, for security), but redundancy might. Unless you have a good backup system that can access this drive then you might worry about that. If it fails, is the data guaranteed? Just make sure you have a good backup system that can handle that amount of data and if it fails, get LaCie to replace it, right? Then restore your data back to the disk.

IO will be an issue. period. no debate.

As far as what I would use it for, well I've used external USB drives for remote users to make backups, I've even used is as a secondary backup storage device. 1TB is nice that is for sure, but I wouldn't rely on it for a server.
