Currently running DNS (or really, unix host files) in an NT4 domain with Solaris servers.
How can I use 2K DNS to resolve both Unix and Win netbios names? Currently, we use alot of host files on both to get around. Want my DNS to find netbios names / unix hosts, not domain names.
Unix host file is as such
192.168.1.10 test2
192.168.1.11 solaris4
So, really just want to use DNS for host names only, not domain names. Same function as a host file. Already have WINS for the Win boxes. Need this for Win to Unix resolution.
While we’re at it, what can be used for Unix to Unix in the same dynamic (or static) scenarion? If I set this DNS usp as stated above can the Unix machines use it or am I stuck with the Unix DNS host files? What CAB be used for Unix to Unix resoluction? Can WIN2K DNAS somehow be used for that?
