5.1 Speakers - Windows Media Player?

By flight_lieutenant ·
Hi there, not sue if this is a hardware or software problem but here goes anyway:

I have 5.1 creative speakers which have been working fine, then yesterday I turned Windows Media Player 10 on to play some music, however only to find that my front right speaker wasn't playing. All five speakers (and sub) were working fine with WMP before.

Due to a software problem I had to reinstall windows xp on my pc. I tried a program which came with my speakers which plays a sound out of each one individually to see if they all work. I did this and they worked fine, however I played some music on WMP 10 and the same front right speaker did play anything out of it. I tried using the speaker program again after that only to find that I was still getting no sound from it.

Is there a problem with Windows Media Player or something else?

Cheers - Simon

Looking over your post, it sounds more like that speaker is going bad. did you check the wires for proper or loose connection?
If speakers are still in the warranty period I would contact the manufacture for replacement
