8206 and 8230 Errors-Exchange 2003

By steve.bouse ·
I have two new Exchange 2003 SP1 servers and am getting this 8206 a few times a day (different users) and this occassionally:

vent Type: Warning
Event Source: EXCDO
Event Category: General
Event I 8230
Date: 8/9/2005
Time: 11:07:19 AM
User: N/A
Computer: MXMA2
An inconsistency was detected in
/Calendar/BellSouth?Netopia CPEMS Weekly PM Status Meeting.EML. The
calendar is being repaired. If other errors occur with this calendar,
please view the calendar using Microsoft Outlook Web Access. If a problem
persists, please recreate the calendar or the containing mailbox.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: EXCDO
Event Category: General
Event I 8206
Date: 8/9/2005
Time: 11:07:20 AM
User: N/A
Computer: MXMA2
Calendaring agent failed with error code 0x80070057 while saving

Has anyone seen this as there is no much out there. The only things I found are:

I have Exchange 2003, not Exchange 2000 so there is no M: drive being scanned by AV

I have verified that registry keys are not missing (msexchangefbpublish)

Most of the fixes are for Exchange 2000, not for Exchange 2003--any help is appreciated!

Microsoft Support

by BFilmFan In reply to 8206 and 8230 Errors-Exch ...

Based on what I have been seeing in the newsgroups, I'd say open a call with Microsoft support.

I've not read of a solution with Exchange 2003, but a lot of commentary reporting it.

More than just the "M" drive

You want to also exclude the Exchange application folders from being scanned.

8206 EXCDO on E2K3 SP1

I have the exact same set of circumstances you do. What about the following?

"This problem may occur when Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition is installed on the Exchange 2000 computer and it is configured to scan the Exchange directory structure"

This should apply equally to Exchange 2003 I would think.

Here is the fix for this

See KB892524 for the hotfix information. This should also be in SP2. If you can't get to this article, it's because it might be Premier only. email me for the content of the article.

Did You Find An Answer?

by Zoeythecat In reply to 8206 and 8230 Errors-Exch ...

Hi Steve,

I am getting similar errors. The only difference is I get the 8206 and 8299 errors. The only articles I could find (just like yourself) was for exchange2000. I also have Exchange2003/SP1. The thing is the messages only appear when a user who is having issues synchronizing her phone with Entourage on a MACintosh OSX system. Did you find any answers to this?

Thanks in advance,

Same here

Just got a user with Entourage on OSX with the exact same problem. I thought it was just a corrupt mailbox but I can't get it repaired and now I think it's something to do with syncing with Entourage.
