A negative effect on US Alliances?

by oz_media . Updated 23 years ago

I don’t want this discussion to turn into anothyer turf war and don’t want to beat a dead horse but I watched the end of CBC’s Newsworld last night and it raised a few interesting points.
In brief, the discussion was whether the US war efforts havetainted the minds of citizens by making them feel negatively about the US Allies and vice versa.

Apparently, 89% of Americans feel that the war efforts have benefited all the other allied countries, especially Germany, France and Canada.
51% of the rest of the world feels that Americans are simply being arrogant and aren’t helping anyone but themselves.

86% of the American public (before the wars) felt that Canada was a great country and had no problems with rance. Whereas, since th wars, only 41% feel that Canada is an Alliance and even less for France.

I only had the top of my smoke pack to jot a few quick notes so I welcome anyone who saw the report that has info to add or correct my statements.

Another survey has shown that 91% of Americans feel that people in other countries would rather live in the USA and are jealous of their superiority, whereas only 14% of people surveyed in other countries would want to live in the USA.

Over 56% of Americans have become angry at Canada for its reluctance to join the war, 81% hated France now, whereas they were considered fine before.

72% of people in other coutries feel Americans are arrogant and see themselves as righteous “World police”. 92% of Americans feel that the rest of the world should be thankful for their presence.

These are not my opinions of survey results, nor were they ONLY Canadian surveys, most of the interviews and surveys were conducted in the USA, with the exception of stats form the rest of the world.

How do you feel this stacks up with your personal opinions?
