A+ Certification duties

By bobcatshef1 ·
I've been schooled properly, but, new in the IT field, have no idea as to what I'll be doing as an A+ Certified tech. Set-up OS's, troubleshoot software/hardware problems? Any ideas on exactly what type of work I can expect when job-hunting is what I'm looking for from other A+ Certified techs.

It seems to be most prevalent for help-desk support. Depending on what your strongest in, you can do a lot more, such as network admin or computer technician. A+ is just the beginning, though - Most people start on their MCSE or CNA soon after taking A+.

Hi, you have a few options: help desk, field technician, in-house production (such as system building), possibly a network associate (especially if you aspired to other certifications). Much of the work is a combination of hardware/software: troubleshooting hardware (dma,IRQs,device conflicts, flashing bios, etc.), upgrading-video, hard drives; troubleshooting printers;repairing-trade out power supplies, motherboards. You'll use most if not all of A+ info. and then some. For example, SCA scsi harddrives which need an adapter for 50 or 68 pin channels, wireless technologies, xdsl, etc. A+ is your beginning point if you want to move into more advanced/complex fields. You will always use the A+ info. though regarless of where you work in IT. Good luck.

You could get a PC Service Tech position, help desk support. A+ is a good compliment to any future networking skills and certificates that you will achieve in the future.
