A problem during update NT to Win2000 Se

by LordInfidel In reply to A problem during update N ...

Once you have updated your PDC to win2k, you must now install Active Directory.

The reason you can not install 2kpro into the domain, is because there is NO PDC any more.

Active Directory is the whole foundation for win2k. Make sure that youknow it backwards and forwards.

Also when you install Active directory, make sure that you have a DNS server available that can accept dynamic updates. I suggest making another win2k server and installing dns on it. You can point it's root servers to a dns server that is functioning. Make the 2k dns server the default for your 2k DC.

Also make sure that you select Mixed- Mode. Native mode will not allow any BDC's access.

Get the MSPress book "2000 accelerated" and I suggest "Insidewindows 2000 server by William Boswell, published by New Riders.

Good Luck
