A Question for Tony Hopkinson

By Jacky Howe ·
You have been patiently answering problematic questions posted here for a long time without the OP's bothering to mark your excellent answers as helpful. I think that it is time for me to ask a question.

How do I compact a Database.

that when he responds. My bloody memory must be getting bad as I noticed Tony's predicament a couple of weeks ago and mean't to do something about it. It wasn't until he reminded me that I rememberd. He has been on 99 for zonks.

Didn't help that IE thumbs was broken too :-(

We should tease the OP for not enough info. What type of DB, Access, SQL, MySQL, etc. :-) ;-)

Yep you are right about the broken IE but that was only for a couple of days. I have been watching a lot of posts where the OP has been given the correct answer but has not botherd to mark them as helpful. :)

CaptBilly1Eye mentioned the lack of Thumbs in his interview. It is effecting everyone who is spending their free time volunteering to help these people out.

Heard ya mention my name and had to come runnin'.

Yep. I think there has been a pronounced stinginess with thumbs as of late (site and IE issues aside).

Is it just me, or does it seem like thumbs never come from posters from a certain part of the world. WackyPacky@..."I am standing here beside myself."
hmmmm

[waiting for the politically correct hammer to fall]

Stingy :)

you are too polite.

Then again it is a public forum.

No it is not only WackyPacky@... it is from all over. And then there is the lot that get their possibilities mixed up with their capabilities, boy that can be fun.

Seriously though you only have to go through some of the posts and you can work out what it would cost them to get a Tech in to sort it out for them. Here we are providing a working fix for their problems and not even being acknowleged for our efforts.

Maybe we should go on strike.

Strike?

Hmmm, organized non responses!
Much better than my current plan!

I used to stay here in questions and answer cr@ploads, then about the time they moved to thumbs, I pretty much stopped. However often I would post an answer (correct) first, and then someone would copy my answer and get the techpoints.
I pretty much gave up after a few dozen of those.
Now I come here and skim through real quick. Besides most questions are pretty stupid, or plastered everywhere already. All one has to do is a quick search for the majority of fixes.

Yeah but

by Jacky Howe In reply to We can organise

if you look at some of the questions that Tony has answerd you won't get the answers from google. You can only answer them from having experienced the same situations. Tony's level of knowledge on those subjects is phenomenal.

I didnt say

anything bad about his answers.

Here is what I said "Now I come here and skim through real quick. Besides most questions are pretty stupid, or plastered everywhere already. All one has to do is a quick search for the majority of fixes. "

Most questions are google ready, or have been answered 20x a month here (and elsewhere).

I didn't say that you did

But if we don't keep answering these stupid questions TR might go broke.

Just think of the revenue from the page hits that they would miss out on.

If they go broke what are we going to do with our spare time. I couldn't imagine a life without TR. :)
