AC97 Choppy sound HELP!

Hi,

I have just fitted a new Hitachi 20GB had disk to my laptop and installed Win2000 Pro. My problem now is after doing a ‘Windows Update’ and installing the,

‘Via Technologies, Inc. Media Driver Version 5.10.0.3621’ fro my AC97 sound chip. I then restart my system all my sound is broken, and really choppy!! what is the problem here? I have tried to update the sound chip with other drivers but the problem is still there. I have never encountered this propblem before.

My system specs are:

PentIII 1100Mhz
512 Mem

Everything esle is just fine apart from this sound.
