Access 2000 Query

By joe ·
I need to know how to write a query that looks for information that is not there. Example if I deliver rented material to my customers, i need a query that the empty date returned field in the database and gives me a report on what customers have material out still. I am sorry if this confuses, but I am a little confused myself.

Access 2000 Query

First: Create a query that contains all the fields you want returned.

Second: You can return all the records for items that do not have a 'date returned' by simply entering the following in the 'Criteria:' for this field in your query: IS NULL
This will return all the records you are looking for.

Hope this is what you want. Rich

Rich is correct! This will work if there are no space in the field. (A space can be created if someone enters the field and does not enter any data) If you do not get the results you want try this.

Add an additional field at the end of your query. Type the following in the field "FndDt: Len(date returned)" Do not type the quotes "". In the criterial field below this type >1. This way it will return all empty fields and not just the ones that have never been entered.
