Access 7.0

By Chris Nwankwo ·
Could anybody advice me of a way to generate reports in access 7.0 to show list of directories and thier windows nt groups assigned to them.

This may involve a resource kit utility that will query the directory structure and output reports to theaccess database.

There are a number of tools out there that with the correct privilages will parse your directory information, NTsec (http://www.pedestalsoftware.com/ntsec/) is one.

You could, use said tool to create a text file,

AppName = "c:\ntsec\ntsec.exe" & " Parameters"
"Call Shell(AppName)"

(Put in a loop here to pause the Access script while ntsec runs as the call shell comand does not wait to see if the program has cvompleted before it continues)

Import that data to a table

DoCmd.

Display the data, then remove the text file.

Kill "c:\ntsec\outputfile.txt"

In checking the web site, ntsec 5.2 and above has a COM, for VBscript and WSH. so it can also be used directly in your access DB.

Not sure right now on the details, But I'll be looking in to it soon )

Good luck

just a note I missed, the "AppName" variable valus is not right, the appname (ntsec.exe) will vary depending on what you want to do.
