hi..i had a situation did we prevent staff from copying file saved in company pc or notebook to their own personal pc??meaning to say that..the particular file can only be open inside the company's pc or actually can we do that??it there any software that provide this service???

Well... speaking of software, I don't seem to recollect any, But, as far as your situation is concerned, its more of a company policy problem. You can keep a 'trusted' set of machine's ipaddresses/MAC-Addresses in your companies' firewall software, the documents can be kept on a single central storage (docuemnt-server) and only those people with a valid ip/MAC address can access stuff from this machine.
this can be achieved by simple firewall rules, allowing the traffic to the document-server from particular set of machines only.

thanx, .....thats a lot of help..the solution you gave is for centralized data storage,right???what if it's distributed data storage among the pc inside the office??

yes indeed, the solution i proposed is for a central storage only. Please give me some time before i can try and come up with another solution.
