Access D drive if booting w/ Win 98 disk

By chalmersmnmi ·
After our Win NT server crashed, I wanted to get to a DOS prompt to check on directory structure. I booted from a Win 98 floppy, but it loads diagnostics to virtual drive D, and I can not access the D partition of the hard drive. Is there a way around this?

I asume that your NT drive is formated ntsf. If so, the W98 boot files can't see the drive at all.

There is a TechRepublic article on creating an ntsf bootable floppy.

Or just look over Maxwell's answer to the question a few after yours.

remove any spaces from the pasted url.

And here's the link to the TR article.

CREATE A BOOTABLE NTFS DISK
If an NTFS partition experiences a boot problem, a bootable NTFS disk
might be just the fix. Learn to create one of these lifesavers using either
a Windows 9x or a Windows 2000 machine.
