Access database for Veterans

By RbnsnBkpkr ·
I'm doing consulting for a Vietnam Veteran who belongs to more
than one veteran's organization. He wants to combine all the
organizations that help veterans, around 200 of them, so that a
veteran can look up national, regional, state, and local chapter
information including a list of contacts at each level. Has
anything like this been done before that I could look at as a
model? Is there an existing database that I could use as a
starting point? If I have to start from scratch, do you have any
suggestions that would make it as efficient as possible to create
and maintain?

Use Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS)

http://tinyurl.com/zpshv Verson 3 of WSS is even better than Version 2. WSS is like a pre-built web area that has a backend database.

sounds to me like a basic database requirement- even Excel would do it after a fashion. More likely a relational model will give better service.

But you asked about existing models. While I know this sounds odd, check with local American Legion and VFW posts. I have discovered all manner of home-grown databases for membership and resources. I would wager that they have something similar right now. Worst case, you may find that there is more than one potential customer for this.

If you start from scratch, remember- third normal form is your friend.
