“Access Denied” installing a geforce 7600gt video card

running XP home

I have been searching all over for a solution to this “access denied” error i keep receiving whne i try to install the drivers for my 7600gt video card. The hardware wizard runs as normal but at the end it says “Access Denied”
tried safe mode, no luck

I see some ppl have talked about permissions in the registry and i cahnged the permission to full control for the branch
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ENUM\PCI” **didnt work**
i also changed the permissions for:
“HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\” **didnt work**

Anybody have an idea for me to try? I just cant figure out what is blocking the access nor how to shut it off
