Access keeps crashing

By Smiler ·
I can start Access OK but when I go to open a file no matter what file the dame thing crashes. I have uninstalled rebooted and then reinstalled Access and still the same problem. I keep getting a Kernel32 stack dump. What can I do, other than reinstalling Windows 95.

Other than reinstalling 95? Installing 98. I hear about a lot of trouble using Office2000 and 95. Under certain circumstances Access does not register right.

I have the same problem, however I think I minimize the crashes by frequently removing temporary internet files, tmp files from \Windows\Temp and running scandisk daily, defrag frequently. Be sure you have lots of memory - 64Mb or more (128 if Windows 9 and if you have two hard drives, move the virtual memory to the fastest. If there is no preference in which drive is fastest, choose the second drive.

If this is a mission critical machine, have a FULL backup before upgrading the operating system, you may need it.

Good luck
