Access Ontimer function

By tonymcveigh ·
I have a database that uses the Ontimer function to generate a real time clock onscreen. I have found that for some reason, if for instance, Iopen up another form then cose it, the front end form stops monitoring the Ontimer function and my clock stops running up. Anyone know why?

My best guess on this one would be that the object's "on timer" function that you are accessing is embeded in another object which only operates when it has focus. Personally, if I need an Ontimer function, I tie it to an object right on the root object of the project.

Good Luck

You need the OnTimer function to be part of the master object of the application. By having it embedded it loses focus as you go further into your layered components. When writing applications, you need to think of how the objects interect and are layered in order to avoid these types of problems.

Good Luck
