Access weird index

By ddevans888 ·
I am having a problem with our Access data base the index numbering is wacked out. All of a sudden we are getting strange index numbers that are out of sequence. Is there a way to fix it? Has anyone encountered this?

Not this particular one

but access is just weird full stop.
Presumably you are referring to an automatic incrementing primary key.
If compact and repair doesn't sort it.
Alter the table, drop the index and change the field to a long or whatever the base type is.
Then change it back.
If that doesn't work create another table with the same structure and an auto index and select into it (not the existing key). Note the numbers may/will change if you do this so you may want to update any other tables that use the key in this one as a reference.

Needless to say, but back the mdb up before you start cacking about

P.S. Get a proper database.

This is a tech. problem, in search of a solution.

It properly belongs in "Technical Q&A," not in "Discussions." Please re-post there.

Not only will you be more likely to attract the attention of those seeking to provide answers, but you will also make it easier for those seeking discussions to find such.

Thank you.
