Access97 permissions

By Kymmie ·
I would like to know if there is a way to change the permissions in an Access97 database, that has been split (front end/back end), without modifying each user's front end.

In this environment each user has there own MDB file and is a part of the same workgroup file (MDW). Both front end/ back end's live on the server (each front end lives the according end user's private folder). Where do the permissions live (mdb/mdw)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Access97 permissions

You can always set up permissions on the back end. However, if your forms are in the front, and the data is in the back, usually you could only set up those (data) permissions.

Usually that is enough, but if you need to hold back the users from seeing a form (form permissions), then you can always add code to the Open event for the form that essentially exits if the table cannot be opened.

Let me know if you need some source code; I may have something lying around somewhere.

Thanks. Send me the source code when you get a chance. I ended up modifying each users front end, and left the back end alone.
