Accessing mail from home

By Mickster269 ·
We are currently using Microsoft Server 2003. We have a domain, and an internal network.

We are using the basic mail server that comes with MS Server.

Is there anyway to set this up, so our employees can access thier email from home?

Can I forward it to thier personal, non-company email?

Or, do I have to use Microsoft Exchange?

Thanks.

The most simply way is to use Ms Exchange.
With exchange server installed you just type in Internet Explorer http:\\mail.yourdomain.com\exchange, and you can log on your mail account.

I was afraid you'd say that.

I wouldnt use the forward to outside email option. That can be a security risk. best bet is to use exchange and either setup Outlook Rpc over Http or Outlook Web Access (less secure).
