Acessing Linux box thru serial port

hi
Does any one know if there is a way to acess a linux box thru serial port(com1/com2)via a serial interface cable running from the PC to the linux box.Will hyperterminal be required,if so what would be the setings, any settings to be made on theLinux box

  Only a serial terminal, or a real network connection?

  Serial Howto may be of help. This will explain what’s going on but you will really want to read the 2nd howto:

  A Better one is the Terminal HowTo. This one tells you exactly what you need:

  As far as the PC end, you can probably just use normal settings for Hyperterminal. You might need a null-modem cable though.
