Activesync & Hard reboots

When using Microsoft ActiveSync ver 3.8 or 4.1, the standard procedure is during setup to create a partnership, which works fine until you do a Hard Reboot (for whatever reason)of the device.In my case I'm using an HP IPaQ h6300 series pocket pc. When setting up the partnership I am selecting 'Standard Partnership' this in turn creates a directory under C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles with the name of the device. Once performing a Hard Reset is complete, you dock the PDA and Activesync doesn't recognise the PDA and wishes to setup the partnership once again. Unfortunately it wont accept the original name used as it is already in use by another device (so it thinks). I've tested this using a different brand PDA with the same results. So if a couple of Hard Reboots are required Activesync wants the user to create a different name each time it's setup ie Pocket_PC, Pocket_PC1 etc.
Is there a patch or work around to fix this issue? If so please include the link and any relative info. Thanx in Advance
