I have a user that is using a file that links to PDFs on a cd rom, when the user clicks on one of the pdf links IE launched and trys to open the PDF file but then stops and gives the error message " This page provides potentially unsafe information to an actives control. your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. as a result this page may not display correctly" I have reset all the activex controls and upgrade to IE 6. the OS is nt for with service pack 6a. the pdf will open if you on to the cd and open them str8 threw adobe.

Any ideas?

I keep running into machines that have this similar error when trying to do anything like doing an online virus scan. Any website that has an Activex control on it will put up the error " This page provides potentially unsafe information to an actives control. your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. as a result this page may not display correctly".

So far I have had zero luck in nailing down the cause and the fix. Aside from reinstalling the operating system. There has to be an easier fix than that. Any ideas other than what is posted on any Microsoft site, or most of the websites about fixing Activex problems would be nice. All of the fixes that I have tried fail to fix the problem.

Oh yeah, installing Netscape doesn't fix the problem either.
