Add File type to ItemID

By sam ·
Data format is as follows: Each record as text, with tab delimited fields and carriage return delimited records.
Below you will find record layout (First record is fields header).
"ItemID" "Description" "WtDesc" "UnitPrice" "CategoryID"
"A5+18" "14K 5+FWCP NECK 18""" "0d- " $80.00
"b10299" "14K PEARL BRACELET" "0d- " $465.00 "2039"
"D910" "18K DIA/3 ST C.P. CHOKER" "24D- 1.32" $9750.00 "6083"
The above is how my text file looks.
I need so software that will change my text file to look like the example below:
"A5+18.jpg" "14K 5+FWCP NECK 18""" "0D- " $80.00
"B10299.jpg" "14K PEARL BRACELET" "0D- " $465.00 "2039"
"D910.jpg" "18K DIA/3 ST C.P. CHOKER" "24D- 1.32" $9750.00 "6083"
I hope you got the picture, if you have any questions you can reach me by phone at 212-371-1515 or e-mail sam@honora.com

Add File type to ItemID

There may be a more elegant solution, but one quick way is to use Excel.
Bring the file into Excel. Insert a column next to the ItemID column and use the formula:
=A2&".jpg"
Then copy that column and Edit>Paste Special>Values.
Delete the original column (Moving the Header label, of course) and then Save As Text Tab delimited.

Doug!
Thanks for this answer, but my database have a total of 13,650 records. Your way I would have to copy & paste each record in the file.

Mearly open the file using Excel. Put the formula in the first cell of the Inserted column. Double click the fill handle. Copy, Paste Special Values. Cut, Paste on top of original column. Delete inserted column. Save.
