Add machine to domain thru VPN

Is it possible to add a machine to a windows 2000 domain thru VPN connection, assuming the neccessary admin privileges are granted.

You can add a system to a domain through VPN easily. Whether it be a software (MS) VPN connection you are using or hardware (.e. Cisco) VPN solution. As long as you have the connection, IP range of DHCP. If it is a 98 system it is pretty much effortless, if it is a 2000 system you will need as you mentioned admin priviledges for the domain. Dependant upon the amount of remote users that will be connecting to VPN there are a number of ways you can tackle the situation.

if you using an NT machine you just make and account for the client on the NT machine same as Windows 2000. and give the client the IP address range so he can use the DUN to make the call and you give the none call back on the server, if you using a router and and the client using a windows 98 machine he can use Hyperterminal and you can open a port as i said before so he can connect

If the vPN is correctly setup the computer should act as if it is directly on the network
