Adding a Win2K server on an NT4 Domain

By jvanlunenburg ·
I am wanting to know whether it is possible to add a Win2K server as a BDC onto a Domain that comprises A WINNT4.0 PDC and multiple WINNT 4.0 BDC's ( 40+ )

Will there be any unexpected issues. I was told sometime ago that you couldn't add a Win2K server to an NT 4.0 domain unless it was installed as a member server. Is this correct?

Windows 2000 Domain Controllers (there is no such thing as a BDC in WIN2k) in a mixed mode setting MUST be the PDC. It will not act as a BDC in an NT4 domain. Migrate your existing PDC to WIN2k or install the win2k server as a member and run dcpromo.

I know there is a lot of confusion on the subject. Here's a lengthy article that might help.
