I’ve been trying to get a chained Administrative Installation of Office 2000 CD1 and CD2 to work. I did an Administrative Install of both CDs (per Microsoft Article 284273) and then followed the instructions in Article 235598 to chain the 2 installations. My problem is that CD2 doesn’t install. The 1st CD installs fine, but according to the Microsoft article, the PC should reboot and then the 2nd CD should install. This doesn’t happen. I just get a message that Office setup is complete. Even after re-booting manually I don’t get the install.
The steps I took were: 1) Admin install CD1. 2) Admin Install CD2. 3)Copied enhanced version of setup.exe to CD2 folder. 4) Run custom installation wizard in ORK. My paths are: \\sql_apps_srvr\apps\CDAdmin1\chained.mst and then \\sql_apps_srvr\apps\CD2Admin\setup.exe /chained /qb.
Another question, the Microsoft article tells you to write down the command line it gives you at the finish, but then has you run a different command to install. I tried both commands and neither worked, but what’s the point of writing down the 1st one?
Sorry for the length of the question. I know I could do 2 separate admin installs, but Microsoft says this should work and it’s become sort of a mission now.
