Administrative Shares

By drmweaver ·
Ok, I've got a problem. I've been hired over the IT Dept for this company.

I have 3 employees. I'm finding things on the company servers that should not be there (i.e. personal web servers, network games, etc...)

Anyways, I just found out that two of the employees have disabled their network administrative shares on the workstations.

I've been asked by HR and upper management to find out what these employees are doing during the day. I have a program that allows me to see their desktops, but they don't know I'm watching them.

However, it requires the network administrative shares to be enabled.

I just realized that the antivirus we are using is not installed properly and does not respond on the server to administer. I also found that the IT personal was manually downloading the dat files and then sending out to the employees to manually update their dat's.

I believe I can put into place a policy that states that all pc's must have the administrative shares enabled so that the antivirus server can update the workstations automatically.

But would like your suggestions if anyone else has some.
