If there is another user account with administrator priviliges, reset the administrators password(then create a password word reset disk and keep it safe

If you are running XP Pro, Right click on MY COMPUTER click manage, on the left side of the screen (in the tree pane) click localuser and groups, click users then right click the administrators name then click reset password. when you have reset the password, click start, control panel, users double click the administrators account and clickprevent forgotten password, this will create a password reset disk.

hope this helps

that did not help me any as the computer was locked at the start up window and I could not even get log on to the computer at all. So I have now save a copy of his hard drive and just now getting a new fresh install of Windows XP.
Thank You for the help though.
