    Adobe 7.0

    by mtrox ·

The newest version of Adobe has been out for 2 weeks (?) now and I’m already tired of it. After I browse the net and look at a .pdf, AcroRd32 hangs around in my processes soaking up 34 Meg of memory! Someone on an Adobe forum told me that it’s by design. It hangs around for five minutes on the off chance I may need Reader again. I’m not sure that’s true but mine doesn’t ever go away. So I kill it myself which means it doesn’t clean up it’s .tmp files.

I’m wishing had had Reader 6.1 back now.

      Longer than 2 weeks.

I created a distribution package for it a month or more ago. Personally, I LIKE it and have gotten many many comments from end-users about how much FASTER it is. So it takes over 34MB of RAM for 5 minutes… I’m not too worried about that.

So I get it is just me.

Yea it is more than 2 weeks. Yes, it is faster. But I massaged 6.01 so that it didn’t load all the plug-ins. That made it even faster than 7.0 without a piece of it in the global start up. I’m not sure you could do my trick on a large scale deployment so it might be better for you.

I may take Info-Safety’s advice and go back to 6.01.

We’ve got different users that need a lot of different plugins, and they’d FREAK if they weren’t all there… for YOU though, someone who actually knows what they’re doing with it, I’m sure 6.01 was better. Good luck.
