    by zlzpqx ·

I have activated Read Out Loud in Adobe Reader, which I have installed on my PC/Windows 10.

I cannot figure out how to get next my PC’s reading out loud a PDF file which I have. That is, I cannot figure out how to link the PDF file to Adobe Reader.

Please educate me in the above regard.

    Thank you.

      If you installed Adobe Reader,

the usual last step during installation is the installer asks if you want to make whatever it is you are installing the default application to handle particular files. If you missed this step in the installation, you can probably check through the options in Adobe Reader when you start the application…alternatively, using Windows Explorer, right click on a PDF file, choose “Open with”, then look for Adobe Reader in the list of options, and check the little box toward the bottom of the message box to “Always use this application with these files” or something similar.

        Or …

In reply to If you installed Adobe Reader,

        1. Use Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose default apps by file type to tell Windows that you want to open pdf’s with Adobe Reader in stead of Edge (which is the default in Windows 10 if not changed).

        2. Run Adobe Reader and in the left column click on This Computer and browse through the file system to open this one file and leave Edge as the default program when you want to read it in stead of listening to it.

        Windows is rather flexible.

Thank you, Kees, for your clear instructions.

What I was needing was your instruction #2. That was my hurdle.

          Thank you, again.
