Right so we have a 2003 forest which I want to start adding 2008 DC’s to. So I run adprep from the 2008 CD on the Schema mater with the /forestprep and then /domainprep switches. Everything runs through perfectly, so I then try and add the 2008 DC in and I get the “you must first prepare to forest using adprep /forestprep” – OK so I go back try and re-run the adprep, but it says it already been run successfully.
I check AD and I have the 2 containers created beneath forestupdate and domainupdates that read cn=windows2007update (Why 2007?) and if I check the schema version number it reads 40 instead of what I believe should be 44. So what the hell has happened?! And is the reason I can?t attach a 2008 DC to the domain?
Anyone else seen this?
