adsl-setup in RH7.2?

By slchiu @ Net Workshop ·
In RedHat 7.2, the program "adsl-setup" is not include in the standard installation. Then I would like to know, how to setup pppoe connection without using "adsl-setup"?

adsl-setup in RH7.2?

ADSL should work with no problems. Just select DHCP, or enter the static IP information during the installation.
If you're having problems, the best client to use is rp-pppoe. Actually, this is the ADSL client packaged with RedHat. The latest version is always available from

adsl-setup in RH7.2?

RH 7.2 has its own rpm version of rp-pppoe but the "adsl-setup" is taken out. So I just want to know what utility or package is going to replace the "adsl-setup"? or how to setup adsl adapter without using "adsl-setup"?

Don't use DHCP on ADSL; won't work.

As of version 7.2, RedHat tried to transfer the configuration function of ADSL to its own configuration program. Obviouslly, it did not work - so adsl-setup is back in RedHat 7.3.

Solution: get rp-pppoe-3.3-7 from RedHat 7.3; it should work without problems inRedHat 7.2.
